Step 3: Decide which tests to take
If you have already taken or prepared for an AP exam in a subject similar to the SAT II subject test, then definitely take that SAT II Subject tests. For example, studying for the AP US History exam involves mastering the same material needed for the SAT II US History test. Likewise, if you have taken an advanced level course for a particular subject, consider taking that subject’s SAT II subject test. You’ve already invested hours of your life into that class or subject so you might as well reap the reward of a SAT II score.You should also choose SAT II Subject tests by your interests, abilities, and goals. Take tests in subjects that you are interested in learning more about, might pursue in college or in your career, or are simply good at.
As a note, it is common practice to take the SAT II Math Level 2. Most top students take this exam regardless of whether they will pursue math at the college level.
As another note, the SAT II Math Level 1 is considered easy by many colleges. In fact, some top schools such as the University of California schools, do not accept SAT II Math Level 1 scores. If you are going to take SAT II Math, take level 2.
