Easy
The more local the publication, the easier it is to be published in. If your school has a literary magazine or newspaper, try to submit some of your writing there. Starting a new zine at your school will improve your writing, editing, and leadership skills at the same time. And colleges will appreciate your initiative, whereas being published in a school publication is unlikely to be very important to them.The town/city newspaper is a great place to send in op-ed articles about current events. If a current event has you excited or angry, or one of their articles is just begging to be refuted, then write something up and submit it to them.
Getting published online can potentially be very easy, but not quite as rewarding as print. Look for publications that won't pay any fees to its writers, or contests that charge a fee. The main concern with these sites is that they might not be considered legitimate. You have to find a balance between actually getting published and actually getting published somewhere that matters. In the end, the more difficult it is to succeed with a publisher, the more impressive it is.
